Which is why I wanted to share some examples today of ā€œcategory of oneā€ businesses and creators with you. Because there are soooo many different ways of going about this, and you can absolutely do this in your own biz in a way that feels really good and aligned for you.

REMINDER: most other business owners are paying ZEROOOOO attention to this sort of stuff.

Theyā€™re totally cool with sounding like everyone else in their industry, selling exactly the same shit as everyone else in their industry and showing up on social media in the same exact way as everyone else in their industry is.

āž”ļø Sheā€™s created an incredible apartment that feels like a Paris pied-a-terre, but in Greenpoint Brooklyn. In case youā€™ve never been to Greenpoint, itā€™s not exactly a section of Brooklyn that ā€œscreamsā€ Paris.šŸ˜

āž”ļø She weaves lots of personal details into her design content: She talks about being an ā€œolderā€ influencer [but itā€™s not in a complain-y wayā€¦itā€™s in an inspiring way]; talks about finding a partner, etc

āž”ļø She shares totally unique design projects like how she decorated her Christmas tree with cool ornaments that have meaning for her [momā€™s jewelry, vintage necklaces, antique crystals from chandeliers, etc] [example].

Some polarizing ideas she leans into:

āž”ļø You can be thoughtful and intentional with your design decisions, but also: Itā€™s ok to do shit in your home without a lot of prep or planning when the mood strikes.

āž”ļø If youā€™re not obsessed and in love with the outcome of of a design decision you made, do it againā€¦and again [example].

Renovating and spending money on a rental apartment feels legit revolutionary to most people. How can you take an idea like this [as it applies to your own biz and industry] and go all in on it in order to connect with the unique people in your community who just ā€œget itā€ [and repel those who donā€™t].
